Alzheimer’s Family Center is dedicated “to improving the lives of families affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and other memory disorders”.
There is no known cause of the disease and no cure is available. It is an illness that cannot be reversed or altered, loved ones can only watch in a state of hopelessness and despair as the quality of life is drained from a parent, spouse or elder family member. Caregivers suppress feelings of rage as well as confusion, they simply don’t know where to turn, what to do….or how to cope. At AFC they aid the caregiver. The Center understands the requirements of this age group; they know the effects of aging, the limitations of their ability to function without proper assistance and support.
Quotes from some of our Clients.
“Earl is a really, really great
guy. He’s so sweet to come
here every week. He’s so
dedicated.” – B.B.
“We call when Holly comes,
‘our Holly day.’ I’m going
to adopt her as a daughter.
She’s magnificent.” – D.A.

URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS
The Alzheimer’s Family Center, a non-profit agency providing respite for caraegivers, is seeking compassionate volunteers to sit with patients suffering from memory loss.
Volunteers are needed for clients in our Broward County area to provide 3-4 hours in-home companionship one day a week. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to help a caregiver who is overwhelmed with day-day responsibilities.
Training will be provided. For information or to schedule an interview, please call the Volunteer Coordinator at 954-971-7155. Speakers are also available to explain the Volunteer Companion Program to interested groups.
